When to call an emergency dentist
If something hurts, feels wrong, or has changed suddenly, call. You do not need to diagnose the problem yourself. The Skyline team can ask the right questions and help determine how quickly you should be seen.
- Severe or persistent tooth pain
- Swelling in the gums, jaw, or face
- A cracked, chipped, loose, or knocked-out tooth
- A lost filling, crown, bridge, or dental restoration
- Bleeding or pain after an injury
- Signs of infection, including a tender bump on the gums
What happens when you call
- Tell us what happened. Share where it hurts, when it started, and whether you have swelling, bleeding, or an injury.
- Get clear guidance. We’ll explain whether you should come in urgently and what you can do while you are on the way.
- Relieve the immediate problem. Your visit will focus first on comfort, diagnosis, and protecting your health. When the diagnosis and schedule allow, Skyline will try to complete the needed treatment that same day.
- Understand your options. Dr. Selim will explain what he sees and recommend a practical plan for lasting treatment.
More than a temporary fix
Depending on what the exam shows, same-day treatment may include a filling, repair, root canal treatment, extraction, or even an in-office milled crown. Not every situation can be completed in one visit, but the goal is to move beyond simply identifying the problem whenever it is clinically appropriate and the schedule allows.
If a permanent tooth is knocked out
Hold the tooth by the white crown—not the root. If it is dirty, rinse it gently with water without scrubbing. Keep it moist in milk or a tooth-preservation product and call a dentist immediately. Do not try to reinsert a baby tooth.
Emergency care after hours
Dental problems do not always happen during business hours. Call Skyline Dental Arts for guidance. If you reach voicemail, leave your name, callback number, and a brief description of the problem.
Can Skyline see me today?
Same-day appointments may be available. Call as early as possible and describe your symptoms so the team can determine the best next step.
Should I go to a dentist or the emergency room?
Most tooth pain, broken teeth, and lost restorations are best evaluated by a dentist. Call 911 for trouble breathing, potentially life-threatening swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, or serious facial trauma.
What should I do with a knocked-out permanent tooth?
Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root. Keep it moist—in milk if available—and call immediately. Do not scrub the root. Fast treatment matters.
