Extractions
At Skyline Dental Arts, we offer two types of tooth extractions. A traditional extraction is for a visible tooth that can’t be repaired with a filling or a crown, either because of too much decay or a fracture. A surgical extraction is required for a tooth that is under the surface of the gum or is only partially surfaced. Surgical extraction usually require an incision of the gum to access the tooth for removal. Tooth extractions are a last resort for teeth that cannot be saved, Extractions may also be necessary to treat periodontal disease, or gingivitis, which is an infection of the gums. Teeth that are impacted (see Wisdom Teeth below) and also overcrowded teeth might benefit from extractions.
Wisdom Teeth Extractions: Patients of all ages may require removal of their wisdom teeth, which often become impacted as the teeth continue to develop. Our oral surgeons can evaluate your wisdom teeth and determine if the best course is to have the wisdom teeth removed. Removal of wisdom teeth is an invasive process that may require one or more visits to our offices and a post-op period of recovery.
